1. The UC Berkeley Lester Center for Entrepreneurship Presents:

“Intellectual Property for Entrepreneurs”

Part of the Entrepreneurial Best Practices Series

What: Ever wonder about the legal framework that exists to protect your company’s valuable intellectual assets? Heard of patents, copyrights, and trademarks, but don’t really know what they are or how they are used? In this installment of The Lester Center for Entrepreneurship’s Entrepreneurial Best Practices Series, Sarah Duval Harrington and George Willman will explore how the legal concept of intellectual property rights can affect the success or failure of a new business or startup venture.

When: Tuesday, October 25. Food and networking at 6:30pm, presentation at 7pm.

Where: UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, Wells Fargo Room.

2. The UC Berkeley Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology Presents:

Cyriac Roeding, CEO of Shopkick

Part of the Life as an Entrepreneur Series

What: Want some advice from a pro? The UC Berkeley Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology’s Life as an Entrepreneur Series brings prominent innovators from various technological and entrepreneurial backgrounds to Berkeley and gives them the opportunity to share their successes and failures so that others can learn from their experiences. This lecture features Cyriac Roeding, the founder and CEO of Shopkick, Inc. Shopkick bridges the gap between the mobile and the retail worlds by allowing customers to receive rewards just for walking into a store. The world’s first 100% performance-based marketing platform in the physical retail world, Shopkick was named the top retail app of 2010 by the Wall Street Journal, and one of the world’s “10 most innovative companies in retail” by Fast Company.

When: Tuesday, October 25, at 5:00pm.

Where: UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, Anderson Auditorium

This event is free but seating is limited so arrive early!

3. The UC Berkeley Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Intel Present:

“The 7th Annual Intel Global Challenge”

What: The Intel Global Challenge is a global business competition focused on technology. Twenty-eight teams from nearly twenty countries will compete in private judging sessions during the week leading up to this event. On the evening of this high stakes event (up to $100,000 in prizes are on the line!), attendees will enjoy a reception with complimentary drinks and hors d’oeurves and a talk by Keynote Speaker Dr. Genevieve Bell, followed by presentations from the top eight final competitors, and a presentation of awards to the winning teams. All guests will be invited to participate in the selection of the “People’s Choice Award,” the winner of which will receive a $5,000 prize.

When: Thursday, November 10. Reception at 5:30. Keynote Speaker, Finalist Presentations, and Awards Ceremony from 6:30-8:30.

Where: The reception will take place in the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business Bank of American Forum. The keynote speech, presentations, and awards will be given in Andersen Auditorium.
