KidsAppBox

It’s not a surprise that most children would rather play video games than read a book.

As technology advances, it can consume a lot of our time. KidsAppBox, an educational game developing company is fully aware of the distraction technology may have on children. As parents themselves, they were determined to find a way to make learning fun. KidsAppBox reached 30 million downloads in four years.

The Idea

A company that started out as an idea with no expectations turned into a successful app aimed towards helping children five–years-old and under reach educational goals and illuminate the time wasted staring at a screen. This app idea was created when Erkay Uzun, CEO, and his wife Elif, removed their TV after the birth of their son Eren.

“There’s no way to prevent kids from playing on these devices, therefore, the best thing to do is give them the necessary education content.”

“There’s no way to prevent kids from playing on these devices, therefore, the best thing to do is give them the necessary education content,” Erkay pointed out. He predicts with the advancement of technology, apps and tablets will be a necessity of education in the future. Therefore, Erkay, with the help of his wife, are influencing a new way to keep young children entertained before preschool.

The Ultimate Goal

After throwing away their TV, “We had so much more time, “ Elif explained, “We wanted to raise our son with specific content, unlike how we grew up.” At first, it was not Erkay’s intention to create a successful business but purely to develop a modern way to engage his four-year-old son to learn. After the app was made, the creative couple posted Erkay’s App on their FaceBook, where they received positive feedback from parents. Erkay was pleased to hear that he helped children around the world.

“There are many places in the world where children can’t reach the proper education, journals, and flash cards.”

What keeps Erkay motivated to continue producing games every few months is the comments that parents leave about the results in their children’s education, “There are many places in the world where children can’t reach the proper education, journals, and flash cards.” His app features flashcards of memory games, counting, and shapes, which all could be accessed for free. Erkay remains passionate about his product because he shares a connection with his customers. This personal relation keeps him wanting to improve the app every day.

The Home

KidsAppBox is located in Sandbox Suites, Palo Alto. Sandbox Suites is a co-working company that encourages companies to collaborate on projects together. This is what attracted Erkay’s company to move from Miami.

The environment here motivates us.

“The environment here motivates us,” Erkay explains, “We are close to talented people and the biggest companies.” In Silicon Valley, it’s typical for startups to gain opportunities in the heart of the tech industry. Sandbox Suites provides services for KidsAppBox by being “affordable, accommodating, and it’s easy for people to reach us internationally and locally,” he stated.

The inspiration of his son keeps him passionate and motivated to continue making changes to KidsAppBox, with the help of his supportive wife. They are very grateful to receive positive responses from parents around the globe downloading the app on the AppStore and GooglePlay.
